17 February - 3 March: ‘2.32’ Exhibition
LOWER FOYER GALLERY, Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design
'2.32' is an exhibition showcasing twenty art students from Time Based Art in their third year of studies here at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design. The number 2.32 is a unit of time, which the students have chosen as a common link to each of the individual works.

LEVEL 5, MATTHEW BUILDING, DJCAD
This exhibition offers an opportunity to see the creations of over 160 1st Year students from Fine Art, Design, and Media Arts and Imaging as they embark on their chosen specialism at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design. Fresh ideas and unique approaches illustrate how artistic talent continues to be successfully developed through the General Course programme.

1 March: Escape Walk
Welcome in the joys of March with an escape up Balgay Hill! With the first Spring flowers starting to come through, Balgay Hill offers a lovely break from the university campus. Easily accessible by mini-bus, this is a lovely walk in one of Dundee's most popular parks.
We will leave from outside the DUSA building in Balfour Street at 1.10pm as usual.

1 March: Principal's talk on the politics of the NHS
The Politics Society is hosting a talk by Sir Alan Langlands, Principal of the University, on Thursday 1st March at 7pm in the Baxter Conference Suite 1.36 (on the first floor of the Tower).
His talk is titled 'Equity, Efficiency & Responsiveness - Living with the Politics of the NHS'.

A short service of Choral Evensong led by the Rev Dr Fiona Douglas will take place in the Chaplaincy at 5.15pm.

6 March: Explore the World from Dundee
Lecture: "Exploring Deseret" by Bruce Gittings
7.30pm at the D'Arcy Thompson Lecture Theatre, University of Dundee.
Geographer Bruce Gittings travels through the mountains and valleys of Utah, Arizona, Nevada and California where landscapes range from the grandiose monuments of the still-isolated Mormon culture to the tranquillity of Yosemite in the snow and the vast urban sprawl of Los Angeles.

This week's Urban Ramblers Escape Walk will take place tomorrow (Tuesday, 1.10pm) and will be to the popular location of the North East Fife Coastal Path alongside the Tay Estuary.

9-11 March: Through the looking-glass and what Alice foudn there
Lip Theatre Company invites you to step through the Looking-glass with Lewis Carroll's "Through the Looking-glass and What Alice Found There".
Performances will run from the 9th until the 11th of March in the Bonar Hall.
Performances will be at 7.30 each evening and two afternoon matinees on the 10th and 11th at 2pm.
Tickets will cost £5 on the door and £3 for concessions.

Preview 9 March 6-8pm: Reading, Riding and Other Recent Works
COOPER GALLERY
Rainer Ganahl is an Austrian artist living in New York City whose work addresses language, learning systems, media and politics. This solo exhibition presents works from several of his ongoing series, from learning foreign languages as part of his art; to documenting the exchange of knowledge in academia; and his ongoing bicycle actions cycling against traffic on streets all over the world from Moscow to Damascus. Exhibition runs until 14 April.

14 March: The Dundee Afternoon Lectures
Tsunamis in Scotland by Alastair Dawson

Tsunamis came sharply into public focus a year ago but could such an event happen in Scotland? Alastair Dawson, who has been studying tsunamis for 20 years will describe past Scottish experience of such events and assess the likelihood of tsunami impacting on the coastline in the future.

15 March: School of Architecture: engerising cities lecture Material Matters: A significant aspect of the feeling a building evokes derives from the material language and construction strategy adopted. Jonathon Sergison will explore material matters from a position based in practice, one that it fascinated by the construction possibilities that inform a critical method of working.

Preview 16 March 5-7pm: Between: Self and Others

This exhibition is the result of a weeklong workshop, which will present the outcomes of Fourth year Gallery Textiles students alongside the work of two of their tutors, Lisa Gallacher and Jonathan Robertson. This exhibition is the second in Exhibitions Department¹s series exploring the work of tutors and students at DJCAD. Exhibition runs until 24 March.

Lecture: "Loch Leven & the River Leven - a landscape transformed" - by David Munro
7.30pm at the D'Arcy Thompson Lecture Theatre, University of Dundee.
RSGS Director Dr David Munro describes the dramatic changes that took place to the landscapes of fife and Kinross in the early 19th century when a major engineering project reduced Loch Leven to three-quarters of its original size.

Eight students and two graduates from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design¹s Fine Art course show a series of work displaying their transition from their portfolio application to the present day. Through this the exhibition intends to explore the development of the ideas of each individual with a focus on the importance of drawing. ŒDrawing: A Clearer Picture¹ is curated by Fine Art students Eona McCallum, Kimberley Bright and Fraser MacDonald. Exhibition runs until 14 April.
