University of Dundee, Perth Road, Dundee.

Lorraine Kelly, rector of the University of Dundee, will join students and their families and friends at the official opening of this year’s Degree Show at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design on Friday May 19.

Lorraine will be given a tour of the show by Professor Gareth Fisher, associate dean of learning and teaching at DJCAD.

She will then present prizes to a total of 12 students representing the schools of architecture, design, fine art and television and imaging at a reception hosted by Dean Professor Georgina Follett.

"We are delighted Lorraine can join us at the official opening of this year’s degree show," said Professor Follett.

"It promises to be an exceptional show with a fascinating range of exhibitions by more than 200 artists, designers and architects. It showcases the amazing talent and creativity of our graduates and I’m sure Lorraine will thoroughly enjoy the evening."

Exhibits at Degree Show 2006 include jewellery inspired by the Scottish Parliament, a Christian animation with a modern twist, a storage facility full of ideas and an innovative trampolining sock. A contemporary representation of the Crucifixion and designs to house the Demarco archive will also be on display.

The degree show opens to the public on Saturday May 20 and runs until Saturday May 27. It is staged within the DJCAD buildings on the University of Dundee campus.
