Post strengthens Dundee's European Links

Dr Catia Montagna, Reader in Economics and Head of Economic Studies in the School of Social and Environmental Sciences, has been invited to join the Centre for Globalisation and Industry Dynamics (GlobID) of the Aarhus School of Business in Denmark as an Associated Researcher.

Dr Montagna, who is also a Research Fellow at the world renowned Leverhulme Centre for Globalisation and Economic Policy at the University of Nottingham, said building links with the Aarhus School of Business offered great opportunities for the School of Social and Environmental Sciences.

'The growing fragmentation of the Global Value Chain is a defining feature of the current wave of globalization,' she said. 'The mission of GlobID, financed by the Danish Social Science Research Council, is to contribute to identify the drivers of the Global Value Chain and to understand the tensions between globalization, national polices and firms' behaviour.'

'These themes, which have been at the centre of my personal research agenda for some time, are of increasing prominence in policy and academic debates.'

'This affiliation strengthens Dundee's stake in this important emerging area'.

Dr Montagna was Visiting Professor at the Aarhus School of Business in June, when she also gave an invited talk on Strategic Outsourcing at the GlobID's annual conference.
