18 June: Greatest Minds Lecture
Dr Walter Willett- The Pursuit of Health:Is Contemporary Medicine Taking Us Down the Wrong Path?
6pm - New Teaching Block
Dr Willett, the world's most cited nutritionist, will look at why despite stunning new insights by medical research and huge investments in treatment, rates of many diseases in the US are declining only slightly and in some population subgroups overall mortality is increasing.
Our investments in health ignore information that most major diseases are largely preventable by known dietary and lifestyle modifications. A more balanced approach would have a much greater impact on the health of our societies, he will argue.

19 to 22 June: Dundee Literary Festival
New Teaching Block
More than 20 different authors will be taking part in this year's festival which has doubled in size since last year. Highlights include Vivienne Westwood, Kate Muir, Ian Rankin, James Kelman, William Boyd and a Comic Conference exploring the wonderful world of comics.

21 June: Discovery Lecture
Andy Cave: Thin White Line

This year's Discovery Lecture will be presented by renowned mountaineer, Andy Cave who has an extraordinary tale to tell, from spending his teens as a miner during the miners' strike to a total life-changing experience, climbing the North Face of the Eiger aged just 20 years to gaining a PhD in Socio-linguistics.
He has been voted one of the top three all round climbers in the UK and has appeared in the critically acclaimed BBC 2 series, Wild Climbs. His book Learning to Breathe has won several literary awards and the sequel, Thin White Line takes up his story with a fascinating account of extreme experience.

Until 9 July: Blood, Toil, Tears & Sweat
New Teaching Block
This exhibition, launched to mark the centenary of Sir Winston Churchill's election in Dundee, includes personal letters, other contemporary documents, speeches, photographs and cartoons of Churchill's time in Dundee, and his life before and after his term in the city.
Opening Hours: June 16th - June 20th, Monday - Friday, 10am - 4pm; June 21st - June 22nd, Saturday & Sunday, 10am - 5pm (concurrent with Dundee Literary Festival); June 23rd - July 9th, Monday - Friday, 10am - 4pm

Until 26 July: Exhibition: Predicaments in Prints: caring for our printed heritage
Tower Foyer Gallery
Conserving printed matter forms a major part of the work of the Book & Paper Conservation Studio, situated in the Main Library of the University of Dundee. 'Predicaments in Prints' celebrates 500 years of printing in Scotland by showcasing examples of work carried out at the Studio on printed material; from artworks whose visual impact and physical condition have been compromised to antiquarian books with fascinating historical appeal.
