Graduation 2008

Graduation 08 marks the culmination of the University year, a time to celebrate academic success and emerging talent and showcase the University and its achievements to the many thousands of visitors who flock to the campus and the city.

This year more than 2500 students will graduate in six ceremonies over four days. Joining them will be 12 new honorary graduates, leading figures in fields ranging from genetics and journalism to music and medicine.

Following the ceremonies, this year's Garden Parties will be held on the new Campus Green, a beautiful green space at the heart of the University and the most recent addition to an evolving campus.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to view exhibitions in two of the University's award-winning buildings.

The New Teaching Block is hosting a display of archive material commemorating the centenary of Winston Churchill's election in Dundee while the Queen Mother Building will be displaying stunning images produced by the Designs For Life Project, a fascinating collaboration between scientists at the College of Life Sciences and artists at the Visual Research Centre.

This year's graduation celebrations include the Greatest Minds lecture delivered by honorary graduand Dr Walter Willett, the world's most cited nutritionist, on Wednesday 18 June and the Discovery Lecture by renowned mountaineer Andy Cave on Saturday 21 June.

The Dundee Literary Festival featuring more than 20 authors including honorary graduands Dame Vivienne Westwood and William Boyd will be running from 19 to 22 of June at the New Teaching Block.
