Café Science Dundee launched

A new series of events designed to bring cutting-edge scientific research to the wider public launched last month with a talk from Professor Inke Nathke, a Cancer Research UK Senior Fellow in the College of Life Sciences.

Café Science Dundee is aimed at offering an informal forum where the latest ideas in science and technology can be explored, discussed and debated in a relaxed setting.

Prominent scientists explain an area of their research, assuming no prior knowledge of the subject, and then take time to debate and discuss it with the audience over a cup of coffee.

Professor Nathke's talk `From molecules to tumours: colon cancer from a Biologist's perspective' provided an insight into colorectal cancer and her research in this field.

The next event in the series will feature Professor Sue Black, Head of the Centre for Anatomy and Human Identification within the College of Life Sciences.

Professor Black will be leading a discussion on identity with a talk entitled "The loss of identity is the greatest defeat: How safe is yours?"

The talk will take place in the Starbucks cafe at Borders Bookshop in the Gallagher Retail Park in Dundee on Monday 25 February at 7pm.

Future events will take place on the last Monday of every month. For more information please visit the Cafe Science Dundee website at http://www.cafesciencedundee.co.uk/
