Dundee named among top workplaces for scientists

The University has again been named one of the world's most attractive workplaces in an international poll of scientists.

The Scientist magazine's annual poll of more than 2000 scientists placed Dundee fourth among the Top 10 international institutions, which counts all countries outside of the United States.

Scientists are asked in the survey to rate relationships with their peers, a sense of accomplishment in their work, and access to research resources as the ingredients that make for a great workplace.

The University has performed consistently well in the poll, continually being named in the top 5 international institutions over the past five years.

"It is extremely satisfying to see our international reputation reflected in this poll, which gathers the views of researchers working in major institutions all around the world," said Professor Pete Downes, Vice-Principal of the University and Head of the College of Life Sciences.

"We continue to attract people from all over the world to come and work in Dundee, where they join an extremely strong research base at the University."

This year's survey in The Scientist magazine rates Dundee fourth among international institutions outside the United States, behind Dalhousie University in Canada, University of Nottingham, and University of Helsinki.
