Box Art
Scottish artists' fascination with boxes and putting things in boxes is the theme of a new exhibition at Verdant Works.
Museum Services have built the exhibition, which features a variety of artworks from the University's collections, all of which are either contained within or make use of boxes. Many are the work of Duncan of Jordanstone students and staff.
Matthew Jarron, Curator of Museum Services, said, "The creation of artworks known as Box Constructions has been a distinctive feature of Scottish art over the past two decades. Such pieces blur the distinction between sculpture, painting and collage."
"In particular, the use of so-called found objects, such as material washed up on a beach, has held a fascination for contemporary Scottish artists."
The exhibition at Verdant Works, West Henderson's Wynd, runs until 26 November.
