Dundee hosts SOMA Festival

The Institute of Sport and Exercise have hosted the Special Olympics Motor Activities Project (SOMA). Paralympians Caroline Baird and Alan McGregor opened the SOMA Festival which provides regular sporting activities for people with profound and complex physical and learning difficulties.

Athletes from all over Scotland participated in the festival, which involved a range of different sporting events.

Caroline Baird was a 400m Gold medalist at the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000, while swimmer Alan McGregor won a Bronze Medal at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996. Joyce Carle, one of the SOMA Festival Organisers, also competed at the Atlanta Games.
