Campus Services grants for green buildings
Campus Services presents the School of Life Sciences and the Department of Applied Computing £55,000 and £45,000 respectively as energy grant contributions for the recently completed CIR and QMRC buildings.
Head of the Policy and Planning Section in Campus Services, Mr Duncan White said that the grants, which were secured from the Energy Savings Trust, will contribute to the installation of key infrastructure that will directly reduce energy usage in the buildings and as a result lower carbon emissions across the campus.
"This new infrastructure provides a tangible demonstration of our commitment to the University's Environmental Strategy," Duncan said.
"It is especially gratifying for Campus Services to join the rest of the academic community in securing external funding. This underlines the willingness of Campus Services to respond to such opportunities and is an important role of the Energy Manager Derek Mitchell."
"Competition for any external funding is high and our success is testament to the skill base of our in-house engineers and their ease with using cutting edge technology!"
