New CD supporting Barnardo's

Ninewells medical teacher and honorary Professor in Clinical Pharmacology John McEwen is using his musical talents to help the charity Barnardo's fundraising initiatives.

John, a piano player, has collaborated with singer Katerina Binova-Barbour in the recording of a CD, which features a few of the duo's favourite musical pieces. Katerina and John have been performing together since 2002, and have been received with great acclaim at a number of recitals throughout Tayside and Angus. This year they chose the Hastie Retreat Recording Studio in Dundee to produce their first CD, which has just been launched.

John said, "Katerina and I would like to provide our support for the Dundee Barnardo's Helpers Group in this their centenary year. 50% of the profits from the sales of the CD will go to Barnardo's so we hope that people will be encouraged to buy a copy and contribute to this worthy cause. It would make an ideal Christmas gift!"

'Summertime', from Porgy and Bess by George Gershwin, 'Somewhere', from West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein and Ave Maria, by Bach-Gounod are just a few of the tracks on the compilation which is available to buy for £8.00, plus £1 postage and packing. More details are available online at www.katerina.org.uk
