Supporting learning and teaching in the University

The new intake of participants on the postgraduate Teaching in Higher Education Programme (CertTHE) were welcomed with a cheese & wine evening at Gardyne Road Campus. Professor James Calderhead welcomed new lecturers, more experienced staff members and postgraduate tutors to the ILTHE and NES accredited Programme which supports learning and teaching within the University.

Ian Ball, Associate Dean for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) (Faculty of Education & Social Work) highlighted the value of the existing knowledge that new participants were bringing to the programme, and identified how that knowledge could be enhanced and developed through both the sharing of practice and the theoretical and practical input from the CertTHE Programme.

The CertTHE can provide the first rung on the CPD ladder for all teaching staff within the University. This year's Programme reflects the increasing cohesion of the University's staff development policy and providers by integrating existing staff development sessions within the CertTHE Programme itself.

Anyone who is actively involved in teaching, assessing and supporting learning in the University and is interested in finding out more about the Programme, or any of its individual modules, can contact the CertTHE Programme Director for further information - Lorraine Walsh, tel. 71-4339 (internal direct dial), email l.walsh@dundee.ac.uk
