The University sponsored the Award for Innovation and Technology category of the recent Scottish Enterprise Tayside Business Awards.
John McKenzie, commercialisation facilitator with Research & Innovation Services, was one of three judges in the category, which was open to businesses which have successfully developed and marketed innovative products, technologies and services; or which have developed innovative ways of doing business with customers.
Entrants were required to show a high degree of creativity and dynamism and demonstrate that they were exploring ways to develop and exploit their innovation to its fullest potential.
The judges were highly impressed by the quality and professionalism of all applications and presentations. After much deliberation, the winner was announced as AGR Automation of Arbroath for their innovation ‘Rotafeed’.
John said, "AGR Automation is an excellent example of a company embracing research and development and innovating to sustain themselves in a highly competitive market and as such are worthy winners of this award."
The award was presented by Sir Alan to Lawrence David of AGR Automation.
