Journal of transatlantic studies

The TSA was launched last year at a major conference in Dundee by Alan Dobson, Professor of Politics and Director of the Institute for Transatlantic (ITEAS), European, and American Studies. The TSA is going from strength to strength. It now has over 200 academics world-wide connected with it.

In April it held its second annual meeting at Aberystwyth, and the third and fourth are planned for Dundee (2004) and Nottingham (2005) respectively. Dr. David Ryan of De Montfort University, established an Association newsletter in the spring, which will be published twice yearly, and plans are also afoot to set up an H-net discussion site. Its sister journal, edited by Professor Dobson, was launched by Edinburgh University Press with quite a flurry of publicity in April.

The first edition contains a good cross section of articles, which represent the broad scope and multi/inter-disciplinary nature of the JTS, while the Special Issue, published simultaneously, contains articles on the transatlantic impact of 11 September from some of Britain's leading scholars from international relations, international history and strategic studies.

The TSA and the JTS have received funding from NATO (£2,360), Baylor University, Texas ($4,000), US Embassy, London, and Consulate General, Edinburgh (£2,050), Angus and Dundee Tourist Board (£500), Middlesex University (£250), and from various publishers (£560).
