An unprecedented demand for tickets for Summer Sensation 2003 has taken even the event organisers by surprise as last year's record crowd of over 650 staff, alumni and friends of the University looks likely to be broken by mid-June.
The launch programme of champagne and strawberry tart receptions designed to introduce and market Summer Sensation has, at the time of going to print, only made it to the Dental Hospital and Duncan of Jordanstone college and already up-take on tickets has far outstripped expectations. Over 100 tickets had been sold before the first road show even took place.
In 2003 the Summer Sensation site will be 25% bigger with many more attractions including a Vegas style charity casino, more bands, free fun fair, close up magicians, caricaturists, late night jazz club running until 2.30am and a few more "closely guarded surprises". A crowd of over 1,000 staff, alumni and friends is expected on the night.
The ticket price for 2003, frozen from last year, is just £15 per person with group booking discounts available.
