DJCAD has one of the most innovative and exciting postgraduate portfolios in the UK. Masters Expo 2003 is the culmination of this year's MFA, MDes, MSc and new course MSc Animation & Visualisation programmes.

The Master of Design graduates have developed their work for this exposition through an analysis of context followed by the identification of design problems or issues. They have endeavoured to direct their creative practice to address aspects of social, economic and cultural need. Consequently, visitors to the exposition can view examples of design practice that explore fashion and cultural identity, how corporations communicate within and through interior design, the experience of travel, representations of public and private collections, the redesign of an interior of one of Dundee's historic buildings and a collection of studio jewellery designed with a view to balancing creativity, individuality and market restraint.

The work of this year's MFA graduates celebrates the vertiginous complexity of fine art practice with exciting and ambitious works which collectively redefine the notion of diversity. This year's Expo showcases the best of this work, work that reflects a sustained period of focused enquiry through the strength of its imagination and visual rigour.

A diverse and eclectic celebration of contemporary media art, by students from the acclaimed Masters of Electronic Art Imaging Programme, sound artists, video artists, graphic (T.V.) designers, interactive designers, digital composers, performance artists and documentary makers will present work that reflects and challenges the changing cultures and applications of media production, communication technologies and contexts.

The first graduates of this programme offer insights into the developing realms of 3D visualisation from evocative images exploring light and texture to the communication of complex medical conditions. Investigations into web personalities and the growing of digital trees display the diversity of approaches to the language of animation and visualisation. This section of the programme is a collaborative mix of science and art exploring the boundaries of new technology and communication.

The structure of this year's event is unique, with all graduating students showing together across venues for the first time. Masters Expo 2003 runs from13-17 December at the following venues:

Cooper Gallery, Lower Foyer Gallery, DJCAD.
GENERATORprojects.
Tayside House, Dundee, Scottish Hydro Store, Whitehall Street.
