University becomes an Ambassador

The University has recently forged links with the Dundee & Angus Conference ambassador programme, which provides key organisations with the support and information required to help them attract conferences to the area.

Recognising that fields such as biotechnology, education, law, medicine and science and technology have significant pulling power in attracting conferences to this area, the programme organisers now feature the University's conference schedule in their quarterly ambassador newsletter.

Since its launch in November 2000, the ambassador programme has enjoyed enormous success, so far playing a role in attracting 23 national and international conferences to Dundee & Angus, which have generated business worth nearly £1.5 million.

The programme continues to grow. Funded by Scottish Enterprise Tayside, the Eastern Scotland European partnership and Angus & Dundee tourist board, it has also recently developed new partnerships with the University of Abertay, the Scottish Crop Research Institute and Bio-Dundee.

The ambassador programme will provide free support and advice to any department within the University which is planning a conference. To find out more about the free services available, visit its website at www.angusanddundee.co.uk/convention or contact either Karen Tocher or Kim Wilkinson direct on 01382 527 531/541.
