Record number of student starts

The start of this academic year saw a record number of students matriculate at the University. 2,113 students started degree programmes, up 931 on last year's 1,882 students - a rise of 12%. This trend was also mirrored in overseas entries. 148 new overseas students matriculated at the start of term, an increase of 25% on last year and pushing up the proportion of EU and overseas students as a percentage of the student body to 13% (EU 6%, overseas 7%).

The visit days in September and October showed promising signs for next year's intake with 1,372 prospective students visting Duncan of Jordanstone during its open days in October and 1,500 visiting the rest of the University that week. Medicine and nursing and midwifery run their own visit days throughout the year. The number of prospective applicants taking advantage of the open days - a factor which has been identified as significant in turning applications into entries - is up 10% on last year.

Duncan of Jordanstone has launched its new prospectus - a stylish A5 booklet packed with examples of the innovative artwork that DJCAD students produce year on year.
