3 new chairs in medicine

Professors Tom Fahey, Irwin McLean and Andrew Morris (right) have recently taken up personal chairs in the school of medicine.

Tom Fahey came to the University of Dundee this year from the University of Bristol where he was senior lecturer in primary health care. He was awarded a personal chair of general practice in the Tayside centre for general practice with effect from 1 August this year.

Irwin McLean is head of the epithelial genetics group in the department of molecular and cellular pathology and has been with the University since 1998. He took his personal chair of human genetics on 1 October.

Andrew Morris was also awarded a personal chair of diabetic medicine in the department of medicine on 1 October. Andrew has been at the University of Dundee since 1994 and has co-ordinated the Tayside DARTS diabetes research network of primary and secondary care physicians, academics and base scientists with an interest in diabetes care and research.
