Rewarding Charity work

Charitable work is a major - and often unsung - strand of campus life for both students and staff who raise thousands of pounds a year for local and national bodies of every description. Now a new award, launched in memory of university photographer, the late Andy McKinlay, aims to recognise that contribution.

The Andy McKinlay Award will be made annually to the person who, in the opinion of the committee, has made the greatest contribution to charitable activity over the year. A cash prize of £80, sponsored by the Graduates' Council Fund, will be awarded at the annual DUSA dinner in June.

Chaplain Fiona Douglas said: "Andy was well known and warmly regarded throughout the University community. This feels a very fitting way to pay tribute to his memory."

The award is open to students and staff, and entries should be submitted by 30 April 2003.

A committee comprising the University secretary, the University chaplain and the director of external relations will judge the submissions. Official entry forms are available from the press office or can be downloaded from: www.dundee.ac.uk/pressreleases/mckinlay
