Sport this autumn

photo of kids sports The playsport sessions, organised by the Institute of Sport and Exercise for the coming academic session, will provide staff with the opportunity to meet other staff and enjoy an active break from the office, lab or lecture room. There is clear evidence that exercise can increase energy levels, reduce stress and induce feelings of wellbeing. Flexible lunchtime sessions allow participants to arrive and leave at any time during the hour's session, while the evening sessions at 5- 6pm on Tuesday and Thursday, will allow staff to de-stress and increase energy levels at the end of the working day.

Exercise classes will be in full swing from Monday 8 October. As usual we have lunchtime, evening and weekend sessions, plus Tai Chi and Yoga on Wednesday afternoons. Pick up a schedule from reception or contact Osla Dougal, exercise co-ordinator for more information

University staff can enjoy the benefits of membership at a 50% reduction in access charges to facilities and exercise classes as well as reductions for children's sports courses, exercise consultations, swimming lessons and sports massage. Membership is available to staff and their families, for six months or a full year. Application forms and further information are available from the Institute reception.

The children's October holiday programme runs from 8-12 and application forms are available from the Institute of Sport and Exercise reception and swimming pool. The autumn programme runs from 23 October - 15 December. Hazel Bell is the co-ordinator and can be contacted at h.c.bell@dundee.a.c.uk
