Executive

Finance minister Angus MacKay MSP, brought the third and final Scottish Executive's budget consultation meetings to the Bonar Hall to hear local opinion on the Executive's spending plans for 2002-03. Chaired by the Principal, higher education was not a hot topic at the meeting with tax, agriculture and Wendy Alexander's new broadband initiative taking central focus. The higher education budget for the next financial year remains the same as the current year. The Executive's spending plan is to "continue to equip Scotland with the range and level of skills required to enhance the personal competitiveness of Scotland's people and the global competitiveness of Scotland's business".
