Two first year medical students Jennifer Steele and Catriona Wardrop took part in the Britannic Asset Management Women's 10k run in Glasgow to raise money for the TICR appeal.

Jennifer and Catriona said: "We wanted to support a local charity and thought it was a great idea to support research at our own University."

Walter Williamson, secretary to the faculty of medicine, dentistry and nursing also added to the TICR coffers running the Paris marathon.

The Institute for Cardiovascular Research is being established to create a centre of excellence with the aim of lowering the burden of cardiovascular disease within the population by bringing together on one site, specialists in cardiovascular research.
