Teaching forum

Steps towards a new masters programme with an environmental focus were among the items discussed when the University's environmental teaching forum met for the first time last month.

The range of disciplines that have strength in environmental matters is an under-utilised resource in the University and the idea of cross-disciplinary postgraduate courses is an exciting development that can draw on expertise across the whole University.

Other ideas to "green the curriculum" by adding environmental modules or topics to existing programmes and the potential for developing courses for continuing education or professional development were also discussed. Proposals and ideas are still in their fledging stages but have much potential to succeed as a cross-disciplinary exercise and to heighten awareness of environmental issues in all areas of learning.

Further information about the forum, which has been established by the environmental management committee, is available from Dr Alan Tricker, a.s.tricker@dundee.ac.uk
