Principal Sir Alan Langlands visited Belfast last month, reinforcing the University's strong relationship with the people of Northern Ireland. In the splendid surroundings of the new Waterfront Concert Hall, he was awarded Honorary Fellowship of the Royal College of Practitioners. Dr Henrietta Campbell, the Chief Medical Officer in Northern Ireland was also awarded Honorary Fellowship, the College's most important award. Speaking afterwards the Principal said "Etta Campbell embodies the professionalism and commitment of NHS staff in Northern Ireland, it was a rare treat to share this occasion with her. I spoke to many people in Belfast who had real affection for the University of Dundee."

Next month Sir Alan is due to receive Honorary Fellowship of Royal College of Physicians at a special ceremony in London and returns to the University of Glasgow, his alma mater, in October as part of the University's 550th anniversary celebration to be conferred Doctor of the University.
