Chief medical officer for Scotland Dr Mark Armstrong (right) spoke of the University of Dundee's "astonishing collection of health and science talent" when he visited for discussions with the Principal Sir Alan Langlands last month.

Taking a very upbeat view of the strength and future of medical education, Dr Armstrong referred to his sense of Scotland reaching a historic time. "Health issues in Scotland are under unprecedented public scrutiny and also have unprecedented opportunity to be different - producing Scotland's answers to Scotland's problems," he said.
