Student Recruitment this month launched a 16 page lifestyle magazine aimed at young students considering the University of Dundee. The lively upbeat publication features both the serious and the fun sides to university life with articles including students' personal stories, careers interviews and jobs and five students' experiences living at home, in halls, self catering accommodation, and a flat.

Called "re:fresh" the magazine is being posted to all applicants to the university as well as schools, careers offices, libraries, exhibitions and events. It complements the run of 10,000 CD Roms cut this year , featuring the prospectus, city video and - a university first - a virtual tour of the campus. Every magazine sports a free copy of the CD Rom on the cover. Following its initial warm reception an additional 1,000 CD Roms have been cut for use in recruitment overseas.

"The lifestyle magazine is the consolidation of our current recruitment campaign," says director Gordon Craig. "Having grabbed students' attention we hope the magazine will get the real message across that the University of Dundee has a great deal to offer both in terms of the quality of teaching and courses, and the quality of student life."

"It is too early to say yet how successful our campaign has been but the signs are good so far. This year's open days saw a 37% increase in those attending and a record number of prospectuses have been issued."
