Plaque for Ken

photo of Pete Copeland with Ken's plaque A plaque dedicated to the late architect Ken Douglas was hung last month at a site which had special significance for him - the pavilion at Riverside. Ken served as architect to the University's estates & buildings office for 19 years during which time he undertook a wide range of design work which included new build to the Sports Centre and the Riverside Drive Pavilion which was completed shortly before his retiral in 1994.

A native of Northern Ireland he received his professional training in Belfast and served as assistant development officer to the New University of Ulster before coming to Dundee in 1975. Said director of estates & buildings Peter Copeland (pictured), "He set high standards and gained the respect of professionals and clients alike with his attention to detail, delivered in a very Irish manner with a charming sense of humour. He died in December 1999 and the plaque communicates his life and work with the University."
